cobas® omni utility channel assays 

​The cobas® omni Utility Channel is an open-channel feature designed for use with Roche's cobas® 5800, 6800, and 8800 Systems, enabling laboratories to expand their testing capabilities by integrating laboratory-developed tests (LDTs) alongside Roche's in vitro diagnostic (IVD) assays on a single, fully automated platform. This consolidation enhances operational efficiency, reduces the need for multiple instruments, and streamlines workflows, allowing labs to respond swiftly to emerging diagnostic needs. ​

By utilizing the cobas® omni Utility Channel, laboratories can develop and implement custom assays tailored to specific clinical requirements, including the detection of infectious diseases and genetic mutations. The system supports the detection of up to 12 individual targets from three different PCRs in a single run without the need for pre-sorting, offering flexibility and scalability to meet diverse testing demands. This approach not only maximizes laboratory space but also minimizes capital investment and operational costs, providing a comprehensive solution for modern molecular diagnostics.
