Based on rs numbers (NCBI) we develop and deliver predefined assays for melting-curve analysis of human SNiP (single nucleotide polymorphisms). LightSNiP assays are developed for use on the LightCycler® 480 instrument but can also be run on MyGo, BioRad CFX96 and all Roche LightCycler® systems.
Melting-curve analysis is the most powerful tool for SNP typing. We also offer positive controls for LightSNiP assays; these control targets are synthetic and are designed to minimize the potential for contamination.
Melting-curve analysis detects any variation covered by the probe, giving certain advantages over competing technologies. Multiple variations can yield specific melting points, allowing differentiation between more than two variants. Specifically, 'new' and unexpected genetic variants may be missed using a mutation-specific TaqMan assay.
We develop assays for any human SNP listed in NCBI - please order by the rs number.
